September 19, 2001: Nimbda

Today, interactiveu and several other machines at the IU were taken down by the Nimda virus. I spent the whole day containing the virus and then moving our setup to a new server. I think things are working (save for such aliases as that of iu.berkeley.edu to interactiveu.berkeley.edu:8000/iu -- that will have to wait until later for me to come up with a solution.)

My apologies to everyone who was depending on our Frontier/Manila server. We will work out a plan to deal better with virus attacks very soon!
