A new week

This morning, Isaac and I were talking about Neal Stephenson's In the Beginning was the Command Line , a book that Catherine introduced to me. I thought of the book after thinking about how my favorite computer interfaces usually synthesize a graphical user interface witha command line interface. ActiveWords adds to the command line side of my notebook.

I'm still trying to do the automated HTML generation I imagined possible in ActiveWords. I just posted a question on the ActiveWords mailing list (membership on the list required).

I'm enjoying Geoff Nunberg's segment on blogging (thanks, Chris, for the pointer) Do we bloggers have "too much time on our hands" and "an exhibitionist streak"? Are we often writing for "God knows who"? (Doc Searls expresses his annoyance with the Nunberg piece.)

David Gelernter reviews Lessig's The Future of Ideas. (NY Times)

Lessig is taking questions on Slashdot.
