2002/03/07: A lots of writing ahead
Welcome Gary
We're delighted that Gary Handman has started weblogging! Gary wrote: "Now the task is to figure out what all this might be good for. Seems to have potential as a way of tracking project flow, of thinking on the page, of saving resources gleaned from remote locations..."
There are many uses for this technology. For project management, take a look at Jon Udell's Telling a Story. John Robb of Userland has been pushing the idea of using blogs as "knowledge logs" or k-logs. (See the WriteTheWeb interview with Robb on knowledge logs.)
Berkeley' strategic plan
The Strategic Planning Committee of the Berkeley campus has released UC Berkeley Strategic Academic Plan. Working Paper: Key Challenges and is inviting public feedback. A quick glance shows that it's certainly worth printing for a more thoughtful leisurely read.
Lots of writing scheduled for today and tomorrow: the pressure is on!
I need to do a lot of writing over the next few days. I'm slotted to write for the Spring 2002 issue of BC&C an article whose working title is "IMS learning objects: A guide for the perplexed" I want to write about the importance of educational technology standards and present the lay of the land, especially in the context of the Berkeley campus. There's already really good material out there, such as the wealth of news and tutorials at CETIS (e.g., Learning Technology Standards: An Overview ) -- hence, it be best to whet reader's appetites for those resources.
Scott Wilson was kind enough to include my blog in Best of the blogs "for anyone interested in standards in educational technology". You'll recognize the others listed (including Chris and David Carter-Todd) The pressure is on now -- I got to deliver more interesting materials....
