Thanks for the sympathetic notes about my bike #

I appreciate the online commiseration from Chris and Catherine.  Catherine expressed surprise that someone fessed up.  So was the UC Police Department who said that people who damage other people's cars or bikes rarely leave a note -- and if they do (because they need to feign that they are doing the right thing), they often leave a fake phone number.  I called the guy and am in process with working out a settlement.  I'm leaning towards cutting him some slack for being honest....

In terms of replacing my bike, I'm anxious to do so.  I'm planning to go shopping this weekend.  I don't want to drive around -- and walking around Berkeley is, alas, too slow for me (I know that it's also probably a good idea to chill!
