I'm be at a small Walk-A-Thon to support TeleCare tomorrow #

Tomorrow, Saturday, October 26, I will be participating in the Alta Bates Summit 2002 "STRIDES TO PROVIDE!" , a 5k Walk-A-Thon & Health Festival   I'll be there to support TeleCare, a  non-profit program (run out of Alta Bates Hospital) which provides, by phone -- free of charge-- a daily source of comfort, support and information from a friendly, caring voice to homebound, isolated and convalescent people in our community. I've been hitting up friends to sponsor me -- and they've been exceedingly generous.  I'm planning to match the money that others give me (up to a $1000)  I've been a volunteer for about three years now -- and I think it's one of the most worthwhile efforts I've ever been involved with.  The program, which has provided phone calls for 200-300 people on a daily basis for over thirty years, is run on a shoestring.   (The cost per client is approximately thirty-fvie cents a day, derived primarily from the huge number of volunteer hours donated per year.) End of the week already #
