What next with Iraq? #
With the Republicans firmly in control of the House, Senate, and White House, there's been a lot of talk about how President Bush will be push ahead with war in Iraq. I'm hoping and praying that it won't come to war  -- that we'll find a peaceful way forward. (Am I being a hopeless naif? I don't think so.). We'll have to see what effect the UN Security Council resolution will have on the Iraq situation. Will inspectors be able to effectively determine the state of Iraq's cache of weapons of mass destruction? If an impasse happens, will the US then act unilaterally? (I wrote before that I'm a multilateralist, albeit an instrumental multeralists who is a principled multilateralist-wannabe.)
