My technical work for the day strayed over to my personal blog #

I've been working on setting up a good way to display information about books that I refer to in my blogs.  So far, I've tended to point to amazon.com because 1) it is easier to do searches at amazon, 2) it's easy to point to (no hacking needed to figure out a persistent URL), 3) it's a colorful and interesting site, 4) it's becoming a de facto place to talk about books (like it or not, you can credit amazon.com for being very clever in establishing itself as infrastructure for talking about books -- so much so, that services that allconsuming.net that try to track discussions of books on the Web look for links to amazon (among other things).

The downside is that there a lot of interesting sites and services that are relevant to a given book.  I'm trying to highlight that fact by writing a scripts that will pop up a window to display more info about a given book.  The one example that I use is Iris Chang's book.  If you click on the link, you will get a popup window with a number of links.  Another example is Art in China

More, for sure, over the next little while.
