| Can I automate sending references into Refworks? # |
I've been playing with RefWorks for a while, wondering whether I'd ever end up using it much. That the campus has a site license is a promising development; giving everyone on campus the ability to manage one's bibliography without having to pay for systems like Endnote might increase the adoption of bibliographic data management. But there are some barriers for my ever using it seriously. Among them are:
-
RefWorks is a server-side product. That means I need to be online to be able to cite and format documents. (This might not be such a big problem since I'm almost always online when I'm in front of a computer. The online nature of flickr certainly hasn't dampened my enthusiasm for it.)
-
I already use Endnote and BibTeX.
-
I have a lot of other places where I manage bibliographic metadata.
Still, I'd use it, especially if I can make it a personal repository of bibliographic references to which I can easily send data and from which I can extract data.
I've been wondering how to get data into RefWorks easily, as is done via "Direct Export Services". How would that work?
