IU and MIP and Jack's announced retirement #
Last week, Jack McCredie formally announced the merger of the Museum Informatics Project and the Interactive University (2005-01-28: Museum Informatics Project organizational change):
An organizational change in the Museum Informatics Project (MIP) became effective on January 1. David Greenbaum, Director of IST's Interactive University (IU) Project, assumed the leadership of MIP and will create a new department that merges MIP and the Interactive University.

As part of the campus IT strategic planning process, David will be working to develop the mission and plans for this new group. The focus of the integrated organization will be innovative services and strategies that enable members of our community to share, in more effective ways, campus digital collections and content in support of research, teaching, and public service.

Speaking of Jack and other changes: he also announced his retirement last week. 01.28.2005 - Jack McCredie, UC Berkeley’s chief information officer, to retire:

John W. ("Jack") McCredie, associate vice chancellor for information technology and the campus's chief information officer, has announced that he will retire from UC Berkeley this summer after almost 13 years.

Let me join the large chorus of those who have appreciated (but will miss) Jack's leadership and support and who wish him well in his retirement!
