Slashdot on "Computers Not Working In Education" #

I look forward to reading the nerds/geeks discuss the efficacy of computers in education, happening in response to a BBC Radio 4's report  "on emerging evidence that computers have harmed, rather than helped educational progress."

Is there really any new insight for those of us who work in the field or is it the same old story?  That is:   Computers have a lot of potential -- alas the potential has not been realized, and in fact, by our attempts to exploit computers, we have faced a lot of setbacks.  Hence the question is are we ever going to see the great benefits or are a lot of us deceived in pouring so much energy and resources into computers for very, very little return.
